Novation at Superbooth over the years

As we roll through the months of Spring, an event close to the heart of every synth enthusiast draws ever closer. From 8–10 May, in the depths of Wuhlheide Park, FEZ, Berlin hosts Superbooth. Officially launching as its own standalone event in 2016, Superbooth has established itself as a must-attend show, jam-packed with exhibitors, concerts, lectures, and workshops centred around all things synthesiser.

For the last decade, we have been present at every Superbooth possible. It’s where we’ve been able to showcase some of our most exciting concepts, release new products into the world, and connect with the wonderful community of like-minded synth fanatics.

So, with Superbooth 2025 just days away, there’s no better time to look back through the archives and reflect on some of the things that have happened in years gone by at one of our favourite events.

Inspiring installations

Synth Mountain – 2019

In 2019, we showcased Synth Mountain, connecting every synth we could fit into our booth to create the ultimate DAWless setup. With its eight internal sequencers, CV/Gate outputs, and wide range of templates and mappings, our flagship SL MkIII was the perfect controller for the job, allowing visitors to jam and play on a vast collection of synths at once, in a setup most could only dream of playing otherwise.

Mega Bass Station – 2024

The Mega Bass Station debuted at Superbooth 2024. The installation was put together to celebrate 10 years of the Bass Station II and created quite a buzz amongst the Superbooth crowd. The idea was simple: what happens if we take ten Bass Stations, link them all up, and play them like a polyphonic synth, with each synth acting as a single voice?

Arranged in the shape of a number ten on a backboard designed by acclaimed visual artist Weirdcore, the Mega Bass Station featured a custom-made filter knob scaled up ten times its usual size, and a bespoke algorithmic patch generation system aptly named OI: Organic Intelligence.

Unveiling our new arrivals

Novation Peak – 2017

Peak quickly became the go-to desktop synthesiser chosen by many, but it was the attendees of Superbooth 2017 who were lucky enough to first lay eyes on and play it. With eight voices built around New Oxford Oscillators, Peak’s blend of digital control and analogue sound caused a lot of excitement amongst anyone that visited the booth.

Novation Circuit Mono Station – 2017

2017 wasn’t only the year of Peak — with us releasing not one, but two products into the world. Known to many as a cult classic, the Circuit Mono Station was also release. Blending the sounds of Bass Station II with the workflow of the original Circuit, the Circuit Mono Station is a beloved groovebox that contributed to the development of its successors: Circuit Tracks and Circuit Rhythm.

Novation Summit – 2019

A continuation of Peak’s architecture, Summit is another synth that first debuted at Superbooth, two years on from its older, yet smaller sibling. Our booth followed an eponymous mountainous theme, with the earlier mentioned ‘Synth Mountain’ also present amongst the range. Summit blends the capabilities of two Peaks and includes extra features to complement it, and has since become a genre-bending, must-have tool for many synth players across the world.

Superbooth in visuals

The many visuals created over the years for Superbooth act as a time capsule and remind us of where and what we were doing at that time. From illustrations to t-shirts, Superbooth has always been a place where we can visually represent our products, as well as the work of our collaborators, in an immersive setting. Whether it be a retrospective of our history of making synths for 20 years in 2017, graphics for our club nights in 2018 and 2019, or even supplementary art pieces like Weirdcore’s work on the Mega Bass Station in 2024, there have always been clues and hidden easter eggs to look out for in the artwork.

Looking back

Of course, as a musical instrument company, the primary focus at Superbooth is showcasing our creations and meeting with the wonderful attendees of the event — but that doesn’t mean we forget about what we’re all really there for: music. In the past, we have hosted club nights around Berlin, featuring performances from our own product specialists alongside other exciting artists. Superbooth is a fantastic opportunity to deliver demonstrations at the event, as well as discuss product updates such as the Circuit 1.7 and Circuit Mono Station updates in 2018.

We look back at every Superbooth we’ve had the pleasure of attending with great fondness, and every flick through our memories of such an important date in our calendar gets us more excited about the next one. With Superbooth 2025 right around the corner, we can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store.

You can find Novation at Booth 0285. SUPERBOOTH25 is running from 08–10 May 2025 at FEZ Berlin, and tickets can be found here. We can’t wait to see you there.
