Novation's ADE 2018 Top Five

Our Novation team are heading to Amsterdam once again next week ahead of the annual Amsterdam Dance Event.

We’ve spent the past three years hanging out in the Sound Lab at the Brakke Grond and can’t wait to get back there in 2018 - every year we get really excited that we get to spend four days reveling in the world of all things electronic music.

As usual, we’re bringing along our full family of synths, drum machines and sequencers this year. If you’re heading to ADE you’ll have the chance to come down to the Sound Lab and get your hands on the gear as well as hang out and chat to our team. If you’re not there, keep an eye on our Instagram  – we’ll be sharing our movements and highlights throughout the weekend.

As much as we love the Sound Lab, we love getting out and about, too! The ADE line-up gets bigger every year and we like to explore what the rest of the event has to offer.

We’ve pulled together our top 5 anticipated highlights for this year, the things that our team can’t wait to see and artists we don’t want to miss:

Wednesday 17th October:

Colin Benders & Metropole Orkest - 18:30 - 21:15

Melkweg | Lijnbaansgracht 234A, Amsterdam

After successful collaborations with Henrik Schwarz in 2016 and Jameszoo in 2017 the Grammy-award winning Metropole Orkest returns to Melkweg on Wednesday October 17, for an evening with Dutch modular synth wizard Colin Benders.

Thursday 18th October:

Cassette Release with Legowelt - 15:00 - 15:45

ADE Festival Hangout (De Brakke Grond - G4 Workshop Room) | Nes 45, Amsterdam

During this workshop Legowelt will show that there is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to cassette tape culture. He will explain how to produce your own cassette release with just a tapedeck, computer, some paper and a bunch of cassettes - showing and explaining everything in the process from acquiring a tapedeck, brainstorming titles and track names, making the artwork, designing inlays to copying the cassettes themselves and distributing them.

2ManyDJs - 23:00 - 06:00

Chicago Social Club | Leidseplein 12, Amsterdam

On the Thursday of ADE the Chicago Social Club will be hosting a performance by none other than Soulwax brothers David and Stephen Dewaele aka 2manydjs. Make sure to catch this legendary duo in an intimate setting.

Friday 19th October:

Novation Presents: Creating the Future. Live Set Design with Animistic Beliefs - 17:30 - 18:15

ADE Festival Hangout | Nes 45, Amsterdam

Armed with a modular system, synthesisers, drum machines and sequencers, Rotterdam’s finest electro duo Animistic Beliefs share their other-worldly sound and how they deploy these tools to the dance floor, removing barriers to their creativity when performing live.

Saturday 20th October:

Native Sessions: Imogen Heap - Music and Tech Adventurist - 13:00 - 13:45

ADE Festival Hangout | Nes 45, Amsterdam

Music and tech adventurist Imogen Heap is on a year-long tour, presenting her vision for a future music industry. Highlighting how innovations such as Distributed Ledger Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality have the potential to change the lives of music makers, this tour is on a mission to connect the dots, helping to set the framework for a fair, vibrant and flourishing music industry.
