Novation X Superbooth Top 10

At the start of May, the Novation team will descend upon Berlin for three days of synth and machine indulgence for Superbooth 2019.

A synth-enthusiasts’ dream, the annual SchneidersLaden run event brings together the entire industry for three days of workshops, panels, interactive exhibits, parties and club nights allowing attendees to really soak up the current state of the art in electronic music innovation and culture.

Our fourth appearance at the show, the Novation team are looking forward to spending three days immersed in Schneider’s vision, which is now the largest trade fair for electronic musical instruments and festival for electronic music culture. But, with such a huge amount going on it’s easy to not know where to begin when looking at the Superbooth line-up, from modular DIY workshops, to live performances and new product releases.

Some of our Novation x Superbooth team have pulled together a list of the things that they’re most looking forward to seeing this year:

SoundArt ‘Connected Sounds’ by Max Joy – 9th May, 10:00am

“An interesting concept of sound installations in different spaces. Instead of found sound - think of found acoustic spaces. Go see what they’ve created in the Stairwell.” – Alex Jann, UK South Sales Manager

Bastl DIY workshop - 9th May, 11:00am
“DIY is fun and one of my big hobbies. This is an opportunity to build your own synth modules with the manufacturers themselves… a fantastic way to learn about DIY and building your own devices.” – Chris Calcutt, Novation Product Specialist

Novation Clubnight – 9th May, 10:00pm

“I’m looking forward to the free Novation clubnight (make sure you bring Superbooth ticket to get free entry), and hearing Cuckoo’s set with Circuit (especially after his awesome set at Moogfest last week!) – Jerome Meunier, Novation Product Manager

An On Bast – 10th May, 4:00pm
“I like her output, especially the techno stuff, very creative and she loves Novation gear!” – Magnus Nowotsch, Channel Marketing Executive Germany

“Don’t miss this, An On Bast is an amazing live artist using modular, Peak and an Octatrack” - Alex Jann, UK South Sales Manager

Soma Laboratory, Vlad Kremer - 10th May 5:20pm
“Soma Labs have brought us some truly interesting instruments over recent years such as the Lyra 8, Soma Pipe but Vlad has been busy working on a monster drum machine the Pulsar 23, which I personally cannot wait to see!” – Chris Calcutt, Novation Product Specialist

Daniel Miller – 10th May, 5:30pm
“Mute records founder. One of the most important labels in electronic music. A synth and modular legend and an architect of his genre. His 1978 track Warm Leatherette - if you don’t know, check it!” – Alex Jann, UK South Sales Manager

“Why go and see Daniel Miller? He wrote / co-wrote / produced and ran (still runs) Mute records, the home of most of the electronic music I grew up listening to in the early 80s. DM was involved with all of the early Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Fad Gadget records on Mute and also produced for Soft Cell for Some Bizzare. It would be great to see and hear his set.” – Nick Bookman, Novation Hardware Engineer

T.Raumschmiere + Ken Macbeth - 10th May 8:30pm
“I know some stuff from T.Raumschmiere and he is really a very interesting and eclectic artist and known to be very versatile, some people call it a mixture between punk and techno but always with a rough and "off-key" attitude. This concert should not disappoint!” - Magnus Nowotsch, Marketing Executive Germany

Cristian Vogel and Bjorn Svin – 10th May, 10:00pm

“Cristian Vogel is a British DJ and producer who now lives in Berlin. He’s the hero of my youth from back in the 90’s! I’m really looking forward to seeing him alongside Danish experimental electronic artist Bjorn Svin.”  – Alex Franz, Marketing Manager Germany

CRYK - 11th May, 10:45pm
“CYRK is a Berlin underground Techno duo using machines and influenced by Detroit’s Techno and Electro. Set to be a great concert!”  – Alex Franz, Marketing Manager Germany

MOD Devices – Booth W247
“People should definitely go and see the new MOD Devices ‘Duo X’, really excited to see what it can do… especially with something like a couple of Peaks running through the Duo! An entire world of possibilities.” – Si Poulton, Media Relations
